We are a community of people who love Jesus and together we are learning more about Him and how to live our lives for Him. We seek to share His love throughout the Rossendale Valley, the UK and the wider world.

Kay Street is an active member of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and we hold to their beliefs and values. Find out more about what we believe here.

Our purpose is to Make Christ Known by Following Jesus Personally, Following Jesus Together and Following Jesus Everywhere, because Jesus is Lord.

Following Jesus Personally

Following Jesus Personally is all about our relationship with God. We form and build this relationship through regular prayer, the reading and study of his word, and through daily acts of worship. Following Jesus personally affects how we relate with others too. It involves acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God (Micah 6:8). This is how we communicate with God: He reveals himself to us; we offer ourselves to him. ‘This is our spiritual act of worship’ (Romans 12:1). Jesus reveals the Father to us, and his Spirit is at work in us today to transform us to be more like him.

Following Jesus Together

Following Jesus Together is all about our relationship with the Church. When we follow Jesus faithfully, the natural expression of that is to be part of his church - also called the Body of Christ. (Colossians 1:18, 1 Corinthians 12:27). The church is God’s great idea for the world. Her goal is to become mature, like Jesus, attaining to the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13). We become part of the church when we participate regularly in loving, serving, and ministering to one another. It involves being part of Sunday gatherings, small groups, church meetings, sharing communion and fellowship, and other times spent listening to God together.

Following Jesus Everywhere

Following Jesus Everywhere is about our relationship with the world. Jesus calls, commissions and equips us to be his good news to all. The Church doesn’t exist just for itself, but gives of itself for the sake of others. God longs to draw people into his kingdom. We are the people of Pentecost (Acts 2), equipped by the Spirit with a mission to witness to the ends of the earth. As such we should be the expression of God’s coming kingdom here on earth, as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). We follow Jesus everywhere when we do the things Jesus did: meeting people’s needs, living in public spaces, or inviting others to come and meet him.

Jesus is Lord

This statement is at the centre of the Christian faith. It originates in the confession of Shema Yisrael found in Deuteronomy 6:4 ('Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is One…'). And it ends with every tongue confessing that 'Jesus is Lord' (Philippians 2:11). Our vision flows out of this truth in our lives. We submit ourselves to Christ, to declare him Lord over our lives, his Church, and this world. No matter what the risk or the cost, we follow Jesus best when we love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and with a faith that is white hot.
